Lil’ Kim’s debut album Hard Core, released in 1996, became a RIAA-certified double platinum and has sold over 6 million copies world wide. The three singles No Time, Not Tonight (Ladies Night) and Crush on You from the album were also highly successful, and the album is considered a classic in the world of hip hop music.

Her following albums The Notorius K.I.M (2000) and La Bella Mafia (2003) also became RIAA-certified platinums, making Lil’ Kim one of only three female rappers with three or more platinum-certified studio albums (the other two are Missy Elliott and Nicki Minaj).

Throughout her career so far, Lil’ Kim has sold more than 30 million singles and 15 million albums worldwide.

The single Lady Marmalade, where she was featured alongside Mýa, Pink and Christina Aguilera, went to #1 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, won a Grammy Award and recieved two MTV Video Music Awards. Recorded for the Mouline Rouge soundtrack, the song was a big hit internationally, sold over 5.1 million copies worldwide and went to #1 in 50 countries around the world.

In the 2003 book ”There’s a God in the Mic” by the old school hip hop MC Kool Moe Dee, Lil’ Kim is included in a list of the top 50 greatest Mcs of all time.

In addition to being a rapper and songwriter, Lil’ Kim is also a record producer, model, actress, and philanthropist.

First solo album

Lil’ Kim’s first solo album ”Hard Core” was released in November 1996. It debuted at #11 on the Billboard 200 – at the time the highest debut for an album by a female rapper. On Billboard’s Top R&B, it took the third spot.

Hard Core sold 78,000 copies during its first week. Since then, it has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and it became a RIAA-certified double platinum on 14 March, 2001.
